Submissions
We are very glad that you'd like to contribute to WVZT! We are a videozine that airs once a week on Tuesdays, cycling through reruns until we have enough material for an all-new 1-2 hour broadcast. Our submissions are open all the time! If you haven't heard from us in around a month or so, reach out and inquire about your work.
What We're Looking For
WVZT-TV aims to recreate the vibe of public access television from the 80s and 90s. That means we want all the fun, weird, cool, or creepy video you can muster. This includes stuff like:
- Music videos
- Animations
- Documentarian and educational work
- Video essays
- Recurring segments
- Video art
- Poetry and prose readings accompanied by visuals
Etc., etc. We accept previously published work, as long as it will not require licensing (more on that below).
Guidelines
Technical Information
Your submission should be longer than 30 seconds and shorter than 30 minutes. This is so that we have enough to broadcast while still leaving room for other folks.
Your work should have a resolution of 1080p or higher. Please submit work in a 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio in landscape (wider than it is tall). Do not submit work with a VHS filter on it! We'll take care of that ourselves.
Content Guidelines
To maintain a good standard of quality and let us stream on YouTube and Twitch, we have some guidelines for the work you submit to us:
- Your work must be your own. No plagiarism. No LLMs.
- No explicit sexual content. Artistic nudity is fine. If you wouldn't show it to a 16 year old, reconsider.
- We cannot accept work that requires paid licensing on our end. If you are using music or video from other sources, please make sure it's fair use.
- Transformative work is welcome! Fanworks are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
- Absolutely no work promoting bigotry, including but not limited to trasnphobia, homophobia, racism, and ableism. Full stop. This is at the curator's discretion.
- We currently ask that all work be in English or contain accurate subtitles, as that's the only language our curator speaks.
Submitting To Us
You can submit work via our Google Form here. We'll ask you for:
- A link to a Mega.nz or YouTube upload of your submission
- The title of your work
- How you would like to be credited onscreen - the name of you/your project, your social media username, etc.
- What link you would like us to place on the digital WVZT-TV Guide and YouTube description - your social media, your website, etc.
- (Optional!) An artist's statement for the WVZT-TV Guide - description of process, background for the work, etc. Please submit this as a .txt, .doc, or .docx file.
Compensation
At this time, we cannot compensate our contributors. Once we have enough viewership to make it possible, that will change! Until then, WVZT-TV has zero income.
